And It Just Keeps Getting Better…

July 1st, 2010

As you know, my debut, His Virgin Acquisition is up for sale on the M&B UK site, and, in addition to that excitement, I got my author copies yesterday.

And today, when I logged onto Amazon to check my ranking (yes, I am a nerd…why do you ask?) I saw this:

Cue serious squeeing! This is my October release, and part of the first wave of new covers for Mills and Boon Modern Romance. I absolutely love it, and when I saw it Amazon I screamed a little bit. :-)

So, what do you think of the newly designed covers? Comment and you’ll be entered to win a copy of His Virgin Acquisition! (old cover…still worth reading! LOL)

And, an insider tip for you…I’m giving away a copy on the Sassy Sisters’ site too! Comment there and you can double your chances. :-D

Well I have an ebook copy already, but would LOVE a real copy too. I LOVE LOVE the new look – I know that books are not meant to be judged by their covers, but lets face it, we nearly always do (or maybe I’m just shallow). I think the new look is a true reflection of the story inside. Well done on your new book, new cover, here’s to many many more of them to come!!

Janette, I SO appreciate your support in buying the ebook! Hope you enjoy it!

I love this cover!! i cant wait to read it! i think the new covers look less like soap opera scene and more like real-ish life. at least these ones do! <3

Maisey, I haven’t read your books yet but i can’t wait to get my hands on one! Im so happy for your success and pray your creative wheels keep turning for years to come. As for thoughts on the covers…I have never read a romance novel so I don’t really have a valid opinion exept they’re really sexy & pretty. A mistake a prince and a pregnancy is such a great picture!

Hey!! Tree! :-) And I love the Soap Opera quality, but I love the fun in the new ones too. I really did scream when I saw it. My heroine was inspired by Amy Adams, but she had darker hair…so the cover model is really perfect!

Mary, thanks! I’m just glad someone else picks titles/covers for me. They do a much better job than I would. All hail the marketing department!

Congrats on your debut release, Maisey! I’ve already visited on the Sisters’ blog, but wanted to drop by to congratulate you on your own blog as well.

Like Janette, I’ve downloaded an ebook copy from M&B website and I can’t wait to read it.

Love the new contemporary covers, BTW. I didn’t mind the traditional covers either to be honest :)

WOWSWERS – I’ve seen some of the other line new covers but this one is GORGEOUS. No wonder you’re stoked!!

  8. joanne on July 2, 2010 1:41 am

    Isn’t that fabulous!
Love the new covers, much more modern. See what I did there? Modern? *I’ll get my coat*

Are the characters on the front true to the story?

Don’t enter me into the draw chick I already have the copy on order.

Wow, I love the new cover!!! It’s soooo contemporary and the h&H look totally hot! If I wasn’t at work surrounded by buttoned-up individuals, I’d totally squee for you. But not to worry, I’m squeeing on the inside :)

  10. Jackie Ashenden on July 2, 2010 4:02 am

Again, much niceness with an extra dollop of awesome sauce. I want the castle please. :-)

  11. Anne MacFarlane on July 2, 2010 4:39 am

    OOh, I like it.

    Looks fun, sexy and flirty.

  12. Jessica Lemmon on July 2, 2010 5:37 am

I love the new cover! You have been blessed with awesome covers Maisey!

  13. Kristi on July 2, 2010 7:22 am

I have to say, this cover is better. It seems more accessible to most people. It manages to avoid cheesiness this way, quite a feat for a romance novel cover in the opinion of many!

  14. Maisey Yates on July 2, 2010 8:44 am

Oooh…Angie, thanks so much! I greatly appreciate it! ;-)

Rach, for serious. I love it to pieces.

Joanne, please stay. I made the same joke, so we can hang out together and be really clever.

Maya, don’t frighten the buttoned up co-workers…let a sexy billionaire unbutton them and THEN you can squee on the outside.

Jackie, the castle is one of my favorite parts! It’s exactly my castle. And my made-up island!

    Anne, yeah, exactly!

Jessica, thanks, I have been blessed indeed!

Kristi, I love my other cover, but I love all things romancey, but this is much more accessible, and people will be much less awkward buying it from a store…and in front of their kids!

  15. Wendy Lewis on July 2, 2010 8:54 am

So excited for you! And I love the cover change! The old version was nice, but this one does look more “playful”. Hope to see you soon and have a wonderful weekend!

    Hi Maisey

Interesting cover for A Mistake, A Prince and a Pregnancy but I’m not really sure that I like the male model that much but I like the rumpled look that he has on.

I enjoyed the Browse the book for His Virgin Acquisition and I can’t wait to read the rest of the book.

  17. Maisey Yates on July 2, 2010 9:50 am

Thanks, Wendy! :-) I like the new branding. It’s a nice change.

Amanda, I didn’t really know how I felt about the hero at first, but he’s grown on me. And now I’m thinking maybe he was rumpled because they were up to something frisky in the garden!

  18. Trenda on July 2, 2010 10:19 am

    Maisey,

I adore the new covers! So modern and fresh! I’m so glad HMB has made this exciting change!

Maybe I’m crazy, but I looooove the new covers. There’s more on Amazon.uk and I like.

    Congrats on your release, Maisey.

  20. Jamie Wesley on July 2, 2010 10:27 am

Yay, Maisey. I love the new covers. They’re so different, but in a good way! They’re much more current. (I almost said typed modern). lol.

  21. Kerrin on July 2, 2010 2:21 pm

it is gorgeous! fantastic move on their part!!

  22. Maisey Yates on July 2, 2010 5:09 pm

Trenda, me too! It’s really nice to change it up. I think this design looks more expensive too! LOL.

Jamie, that’s okay, the Modern jokes are flowing freely…

Kerrin, I know, just fabulous! I gushed all over my editor yesterday about it.

  23. Lacey Devlin on July 2, 2010 8:09 pm

Oh my gosh I love it! Wow! A similar design on all the books would be great!

  24. Heidi Smith on July 3, 2010 9:45 pm

    Lovin’ the coverin’!!!
It makes me want to find out what just happened there.
Most covers disclose what is…just…about…to…happen. Zero mystery.
Romance is the mystery of getting there.
Looks like I’ll be buying a book this fall.
    ps
Any hot tips on keeping kids content whilst Mama is in LaLa land with said book? (Besides duct tape of course)

  25. Maisey Yates on July 3, 2010 10:07 pm

Heidi, I so agree about the mystery! Lately build-up has been a major theme in my writing…:D

Although, in defense of His Virgin Acquisition’s cover…they may…well…just about to happen, as it were, but how did they get there? How did a marriage-proposal-as-business proposal from a very sensible business woman get so…un-businessy?

As for dealing with children…it calls for imagination movers. Then mommy can sit on the couch with the monkeys and read while they watch kid’s shows. :D
