I was lucky. When I got my first revisions I was on holiday, so I read the email but as I hadn't taken my laptop along I couldn't do anything about them for a couple of weeks. I don't have a special system but my best advice is don't be afraid to rewrite. And if you have to revise your characters, don't twist them to suit the plot you've already written.
